Abstract

Interest in the use of drugs that reduce cholesterol levels arose even before the evidence of a link between its level and the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, in particular, coronary heart disease (CHD). The beginning of the use of drugs that reduce blood cholesterol can be considered 1962.
