Nowadays coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common cause of death in developed countries, and mortality chronic forms of CAD significantly prevails over mortality from myocardial infarction (MI). Considering the changes in approaches to the treatment of MI hospital mortality has significantly decreased, however, mortality in the long-term period remains high reaching 25.1%. This review analyzes the data on the long-term prognosis after MI, both according to Russian and foreign studies, and summarizes the factors affecting the one-year mortality after the index event.
