Abstract

Since the 80s of the 20th century, the model of atherosclerosis as an immune inflammatory disease has been studied all over the world. Many authors have shown a close relationship of endothelial dysfunction associated with known risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis - smoking, diabetes, oxidative stress, arterial hypertonia, and a cytokine cascade typical of the inflammatory process in the vascular wall.
