Abstract

Currently, the use of drugs that lower the level of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) in the blood is the main component of the treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis. The All-Russian Scientific Society of Cardiology (VNOK) and the National Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis (NOA) in their recommendations determined the target level of LDL cholesterol, the achievement of which leads to a decrease in the incidence of severe complications of coronary artery disease, such as unstable angina pectoris and myocardial infarction.
