Abstract

The review presents the analysis current data on the role of proteomics in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and potential biomarkers of diseases associated with it. Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD) worldwide. The study of molecular mechanisms of the development and progression of atherosclerosis with the identification of its biomarkers is a promising area of clinical medicine. For this purpose, proteomic analysis of biological fluids and atherosclerotic tissue is used.
Conclusion: modern proteomic technologies make it possible to understand the molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and to identify new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for the development and progression of atherosclerosis, which can be used in the elaboration of fundamentally new methods for the prevention and treatment of CVD.
