Abstract

In the Russian guidelines for the correction of lipid metabolism disorders for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis, released in 2017, new target LDL cholesterol levels for the very high cardiovascular risk category were presented for the first time [1]. This was done primarily as a result of the publication the results of 2 large randomized clinical trials (RCTs), which showed an additional reduction in the risk of cardiovascular complications with a decrease in LDL cholesterol below 1.5 mmol / L (55 mg / dL) due to the addition of other classes of lipid-lowering drugs to statins.
